This peace agreement included over 100 provisions on gender issues and led to one of the most successful weapon laydowns in history.\u00a0 However, in the post-agreement period violence has persisted, with widespread violence against human rights defenders, land defenders, ex-combatants, and Indigenous and Afro-Colombian activists. The CEDAW Committee, in 2016, commended WILPF\u2019s advocacy for the participation of women in the Colombian peace process and asked for a fast implementation of WILPF&#8217;s recommendations on the inclusion of women in the peace process and on the protection of women human rights
