As part of this national action plan, the U.S. will be assisting other nations in their own efforts, announcing new commitments to that end totalling $31 million.
Key areas of success for the improvement of the lives of women have been in the spheres of political participation, education, and health.
In June 2019, the United States (US) adopted a national strategy on Women, Peace, and Security (WPS).
The United States adopted its most recent Women, Peace and Security (WPS) National Action Plan (NAP) in October 2023, in the form of a WPS National Strategy. The US National Strategy is preceded by three other NAPs, adopted in 2011, 2016, and 2019, for the periods 2011-2015, 2016-2018, and 2019-2023 respectively.
